We Want Messages
Students are not asking for much. They are asking to be treated like equal collaborators in their schools. They have unlimited potential to offer, and it just takes time to adjust and be comfortable sharing that. Below are photos of what ESL students are asking from their school communities.
The team's most recent project was making a series of videos spotlighting ESL students across Iowa. We have asked ESL students from all over the state to submit clips of themselves answering a series of questions, then we are compiling them into videos that the state Department of Education will share with teachers and administrators as part of their federal corrective action plan. We want this to complement the technical aspects of improving education for ELLs by bringing the student-driven, human side of their stories to the table. We will also share the videos with as many educators as possible through social media and at education conferences throughout Iowa. The videos can be found below and on our YouTube channel.
