Here are a few more updates to help you get ready for the big day:
The schedule of the event, including confirmed speakers, is available here. Both Governor Branstad and Lt Governor Reynolds will be joining us to kick off the day in the Wallace Auditorium!
The Governor and Lt. Governor would like to meet with a select group of about 12 students after speaking to discuss issues facing Iowa students. If you are interested in serving as a representative in this meeting, please fill out an application. Applications are due at
the end of the day on Saturday, March 21st.
We have gotten several questions about lunch- lunch will NOT be provided the day of the event, so you are encouraged to bring a sack lunch along.
The rally will conclude with an opportunity to meet with your local legislators at 2 PM in the Capitol Rotunda. It is highly encouraged that you reach out to them in advance to let them know you are coming. You can find your legislator’s contact information here. Also, we have put together a draft letter that you are free to use or modify when you contact them.
In order to have the most effective meeting possible with your lawmakers, we encourage you to prepare by reflecting on issues close to your school and community and thinking about what you might do to solve it. The day will also include several activities for you to discuss these issues with other students from across the state.
Keep watching your inbox for a final update related to directions, parking, and any last minute details.
Again, if you have questions please contact us directly. See you in two weeks!
